We need to think about sections who are subjected to all kinds of sufferings and malpractices. We have eyes but never sees the miseries of poor. Have ears but never hear the cries for help. It was a day swamp with wonderful experiences, worries, joys and pleasing memories. It was the grand finale of an episode that lasted for 6 years. Don’t know exactly whether I was happy or sad.
6 years have passed like 6 days giving about 6 trillion moments to cherish in memories. It was in 2003 that I first hold that magic lantem which spreads the light of love, care and knowledge to many.
I never felt lonely there because I was encircled with humans who are the insignia of love, care and humanity. I had friends’ to walk beside me, teachers to hold me up when I fall, to clear my path and to show the transmuting lamp to walk ahead.
But now it’s time to say good bye to all. It’s time to part this magnificent family.
Dear ones, I have to part you. But the beautiful memories that you gave me will never part from my heart till my death.
The lawns where I used to sit with my peers, my class room where I shared my knowledge, experiences and opinions, principal’s room where I was scolded as a representative for others and where I god the solicitude, the golden shower tree where I met my teacher’s usually, the cherry tree in our neighbour hood whom we cared much, the mango tree in the lawn that fills water in our mouth etc. will remain in my memories not like the rain that pours and goes away but like the air sometimes silent but always around you.
Now I realize how painful partings’ are. However they are inevitable.<img src="/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif" alt=">:-[" class="middle" border="0">

“I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.”
-Thomas Jefferson

Barack Obama’s runaway victory in the 2008 presidential elections begins a new political era in United Nations. The epoch making election of Mr. Obama is perhaps the second earth shaking event in American history after the abolition of slavery. The descendant of a social class once frowned upon and socially boycotted should rise to the top post in the US is indeed a miracle and testifies the wisdom and sagacity of the Americans. There was a time when black people all over the world were considered as slaves. Though slavery was abolished a long time back racism exits even in this 21st era. Obama’s victory is recognition for blacks all over the world. For the first time in the history of the world a representative of once ignored society acquired the office of a powerful country. It will be a significant moment when a black steps in to the administrative office of a white country. This is a miraculous change for the world where racial discrimination still exits. This election shows how far the American society has come from the days of slavery. This is a lesson for whole world that it is the personal qualities and not religion or caste which decides its leader.
We, the people of India must think about Indian pride rather than thinking about a particular religion, caste or community. Until we do that our democracy remains hollow.
Obama is a phenomenon heralding the changing consciousness of Americans and rest of the world.
Good Luck Obama !

It’s really a pride moment for all Africans. There was a time when the black people of this white country were considered as lowest strata of the society. Now it’s time for one among them to step in to the administrative house of USA. Barack Obama’s victory in the elections shows how much the people of USA have changed. Now these people are far away from racial discrimination and apartheid.
Obama’s words are really inspiring to people of all countries. That is why his victory was celebrated in most of the countries including India. A recent survey says that Indian’s want Obama to be the 44th president of USA. Why is it so? No exact answer for that. May be because of Indian’s aversion to Bush or her motivation or support for the blacks.
America showed the world that it’s the qualities and not the color which decides its leader. It must be a lesson to every country where racial discrimination still exists.

Hope that Obama could bring an immense change to US in every field. To provide more strength to your leader, the people of the country must be united in spite of their caste, creed or color. We, the people of other country expect more humanity from America and from her President.

She knew me earlier from my other teachers. So when she came to my class she addressed me my calling my nick name. I was so shocked to hear it from my new teacher as it was kept as a secret between my schoolmates and teachers. At first I was so ashamed that I never thought that she, a new teacher will be calling me like this. All other’s used to call me my nickname but how she???............. At the same time I was so happy that she knew me even though I didn’t introduce myself to her. She asked about my ambition. I told I want to serve in Indian army or wanted to be an IAS officer (Indian Administrative service). But for my surprise the very next comment made by her was this” But Nitya you are a girl”. I was startled to her this from her. My memories went back 50 years, the time when girls were not allowed to get outside their house or women’s were not allowed to hold any good positions in the society. Still existing in this 21st century. Oh god I can’t believe this. I asked her why can’t I. Then she told me that girls have certain restrictions when compared to boys. I really felt very bad. Not only me, my classmates too. I felt that she is discouraging me or trying to pull me back from my ambition. None of my teachers ever told me like this they used to tell us that you should be bold and courageous to face any situations. Then why she told like this. Anyway I am not ready to deviate from my ambition. I will try my best to reach the zenith of my aim. And show that not only boys even girls can reach wherever she wants if she has a will. You know what provoked me to say this.
It’s none other than our former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. If a woman can rule a country why can’t she hold any high positions?

Are you familiar with Onam? Hope you are not. Onam is a festival of kerala which is popular among the tourists as God’s own country. Kerala is a small state in India which is surrounded by Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. Kerala is very popular for its serene climate and beauty. Kerala has a long coastline, backwaters, a rich culture and tradition.

Onam which is celebrated in the month of August or September is the harvest festival of the keralites. The puranas (old stories) says that once Kerala was ruled by a king named Mahabali (maveli) who was popular for his humanity and honesty. It is said that during his time there were no dreadful practices happening in the society and people lived in harmony and brotherhood. In jealous of king Mahabali lord Vishnu dressed as a Brahmin and went to Mahabali and asked him for three feet’s of land. Mahabali agreed to give the required land to the Brahmin. But Lord Vishnu who dressed up as Brahmin covered the whole Kerala by his two feet’s. There was no space for the third feet. But the fair dealing king showed his head before the Brahmin for the third feet. Brahmin pushed Mahabali to pathalam (underground). Before sending him to under ground Mahabali was given the permission to see his people once in a year by lord Vishnu. Keralites believes that it’s during chinga masam (a Malayalam month; i.e. the month of August or September) that Mahabali comes to see his people.
So the keralites celebrate onam as their traditional festival. During onam Schools will be given holidays for ten days. We buy new dresses called onakoodi as part of our festival. Malayali (keralite) girls wearing their traditional dresses like sari, Pattupavada putting athapookalam is a common scene during onam. We celebrate onam for ten day’s that is from Atham to chathayam. Thiruvonam is the important day. Onasadya is the inevitable part of Onam. Delicious food items in kerala style will be prepared for the sadya. Food is served in long banana leaves. Luscious payasam is the main part of the sadya. Many cultural and traditional programs are there as a part of Onam celebrations. Games like pulikalli, thumbithollal, etc. are the major attractions.
The whole state will be lively for the ten days. Now we are celebrating Onam. All malayali’s got ready to welcome Mahabali. I had my yummy lunch with all kerala food items.
Every state in India has their own traditional festivals and each is different from others. For a North Indian girl like me it is really a different experience. I am so happy to be a part of this festival.
Thank you Kerala for giving me such a wonderful onam experience.

Ohh by the way, nice to meet you.

•	My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. My mom ran a small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell... anything for the money we needed she was such an embarrassment. There was this one day during elementary school.I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed. How could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school..."Your mom only has one eye?!" and they taunted me.
I wished that my mom would just disappear from this world so I said to my mom, "Mom, why don't you have the other eye?! You're only going to make me a laughingstock. Why don't you just die?" My mom did not respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, it felt good to think that I had said what I'd wanted to say all this time. Maybe it was because my mom hadn't punished me, but I didn't think that I had hurt her feelings very badly.
That night...I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. My mom was crying there, so quietly, as if she was afraid that she might wake me. I took a look at her, and then turned away. Because of the thing I had said to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my mother who was crying out of her one eye. So I told myself that I would grow up and become successful, because I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty.
Then I studied really hard. I left my mother and came to Seoul and studied, and got accepted in the Seoul University with all the confidence I had. Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I'm living happily as a successful man. I like it here because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom.
This happiness was getting bigger and bigger, when someone unexpected came to see me "What?! Who's this?!" ...It was my mother...Still with her one eye. It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye. And I asked her, "Who are you? I don't know you!!!" as if I tried to make that real. I screamed at her "How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!" And to this, my mother quietly answered, "oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared. Thank good ness... she doesn't recognize me. I was quite relieved. I told myself that I wasn't going to care, or think about this for the rest of my life.
Then a wave of relief came upon me...one day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. I lied to my wife saying that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went down to the old shack, that I used to call a house...just out of curiosity there, I found my mother fallen on the cold ground. But I did not shed a single tear.
She had a piece of paper in her hand.... it was a letter to me. She wrote: My son...I think my life has been long enough now. And... I won't visit Seoul anymore... but would it be too much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me once in a while? I miss you so much. And I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I decided not to go to the school.... For you... I'm sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an embarrassment for you.
You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with only one eye... so I gave you mine...I was so proud of my son that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for anything you did. The couple times that you were angry with me. I thought to myself, 'it's because he loves me.'
I miss the times when you were still young around me...I miss you so much. I love you. You mean the world to me.
My world shattered!!!Then I cried for the person who lived for me... My Mother!!!

While writing this my teacher’s face is filled in my memories. She was not only a teacher who opened the doors of knowledge to me, but also a friend, a mother and all in all to me.
I could remember the days when I was in this gloomy room. The only solace for me was my pen and paper. It was during that time she comes before me with a glorious light. Thereafter that light has never gone out of my life. For me she was a Anne Sullivan for a Helen Keller who could see, hear and talk. She opened before me the visible world of books and newspapers.
Today I could see the sufferings of the poor, the screaming for the help. I could talk with my pen for their welfare.
A friend is someone who corrects your faults and appreciates your good deeds. She is a friend to me who corrects my mistakes and helps me to kick the obstacles on my way. As a friend I could share my joys and sorrows with her.
A child is always safe in the hands of a mother. When I am away from my home at the school which is my second home, she is there as a mother to cares me and loves me.
Teacher, we are at distance but still I could see you, I could feel you
You provide me the strength and beams of light to move forward in this world.
Dear teacher, May I reveal my heart before you on this special day.
But o, mother!
How we humans destroy your beauty
how we cut down the trees
You've carefully brought up
How cruelly we pluck the delicate flowers.
The crowing point of your creation.
Forgive us for trying to destroy
Your glorious creation
Pray,don't destroy us
Forgive our faults.
O beautiful mother earth!!!

The serial bombings in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, which have taken a toll of nearly %0 lives and injured more than 150 people, form part of a sequence of attacks that have demonstrated just how dangerous the terrorist threat to India’s major cities continues to be. Even by the macabre standards we have been compelled to become accustomed to, the character of the violence is horrifying. After all, it takes a special kind of savagery to bomb a hospital.
Police deployment in public places is enhanced; random checks on traffic are stepped up; metal detectors are installed in shopping complexes. . But the truth is that not a single urban terrorist has been arrested in street checks..Teerorism can be broken down in to two elements:the intension to engage in acts of murderous violence, and the infrastructure needed to execute them. Terrorist intentions can best be addressed by investigating in police intelligence and investigative capabilities.
Expertly fabricated explosive devices based on ammonium nitrate can be deadly, as the terrorists demonstrated in Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Unless a rigorous regulatory apparatus in put in place, they will continue to find the explosive material they need to power their campaign of hate. Will such measure guarantee a terror free future? The answer is no, because a considerable part of the terror infrastructure lies outside India but they might contribute to making our lives significantly safer.
But before blaming others for their mistakes just think whether u had done any mistakes. The world is always complaining that the new generation of 21 century is unconscious of their role and in the society. It is because of this unawareness that the children turn to be terrorists and criminals. Children are now been used for many brutal practices. Why the children gets ready for this. May be because of their own interest or of their parents, in need of money. But they are keen to all these practices only because they are ignorant about the role and duties that they have to perform. However instead of blaming these children or their parents the world has to do something to make them aware of their importance and their duties. This is not the case always. Some children are very loyalist. They have a great love for their nation. They take part themselves in country’s pains and happiness. They are ready to put up with the others who suffer.
I am a a5 year old girl. Like every Indian, I am also very proud to be an Indian. There are certain moments which we all feel a great patriotism towards our nation. I think that we are very lucky to have such an excellent opportunity to live in India, which is a storehouse of tradition, which is rich in different cultures, which is flying to highs and highs.
Now a day we could find certain demerits in our development. However, there are some moments of pride for us; there are also the moments that we feel shame on us. It is our responsibility to look after the tourists to our place. It is not only the duty of government officials but also it is the duty of every Indian citizen. However, what happened some days ago in Goa? What happened in Kochi and Mumbai on the New Year night? This is not only the condition with Goa, Mumbai or Kerala. Nevertheless, in every corner of India it is happening daily. Is this the way to behave to visitors to our place (not only to the visitor’s but also to the natives)? Is it our culture?
Westernization is good but only up to a limit and it is not good for a traditional and incredible country like India to cross its limit. We must understand that our country cannot be another America or Europe. We are rich with varieties of culture and tradition, then why should we adopt the cultures of other countries? We feel ashmed of watching T.V. programs. Is this the culture that we all are proud of?All of us make India pride. Our sports stars, industrialists, artisans, scientists, doctors, politicians, teacher’s, student’s, peasants, traders etc. are part of the winning team of India. However, making India pride should not be by destroying its culture. Once sari was our traditional dress (now it is only for name), now a day it has made in to a worst kind of dress. Try to call up your memories. Is it the same India where the best symbols of women?

like Rani Lakshmi Bhai, Sultana Razia, Vijaylakshmi Pandit, Annie Basant, Indira Gandhi had lived.
We had our ancestors raising their voice to increase the women’s status in the society. Now it has increased but not in the way that our ancestor has thought. If it was home that most of the women spend their time earlier now it is night clubs or bars.
I wonder How India can change like this. It is not only them who are going to suffer it is we Indian’s.
We are not ready to bear the risk of westernization. Westernization should not lead our young generation to a wrong path. The future of India is in the hands of youngsters like me. To build up a young generation that represents the living wonders of real tradition, culture and sincere guards of democracy,
every Indian must be careful in their duties (especially cine artists because they are the one’s most attracted by the young generation).
Being a teenage girl, I am kindly requesting to every Indian to raise their voice against the evils existing in our society. Governments should ban or take powerful actions against the films or any such actions or activities that spoils our culture.
No other cultures of the world are equal to ours. None of them can replace ours.
